Motorbike Theory Test

Thinking about purchasing a motorbike in the near future? If you’ve never ridden before, then you’ll have to take the motorbike theory test in order to take your new ride out on the open rode legally. The theory test not only makes you legal when riding, it also helps you learn about safe riding procedures and helps you become a more responsible rider not only for your safety but for the safety of others as well. If you want to be prepared for the test, there are some things that you can keep in mind.

Motorbike Theory Test Prerequisites

A provisional motorcycle license or certificate is one thing that you will need before you can take the motorbike test. The provisional license is the document that says you can legally ride your motorbike while you are getting ready to take the test for your actual license. The permit gives you the ability to get in some much need riding experience which will make the practical portion of the motorbike test easier. When you are ready to take the test you can schedule your appointment at a DSA testing center.

Motorbike Theory Test Components

There are a few components of the test that you will have to prepare for. The first component is a written exam that consists of 35 multiple choice questions. Once you complete this portion you will then have to take a hazard recognition test which covers a number of hazardous situations in which you must identify where the hazard exists. Finally after you completely the first two sections of the test, you will then be required to complete the skills portion of the test which involves riding your motorbike in different traffic situations and more.

Preparing For The Test

There are a number of resources that you can use in order to get ready to take the motorcycle theory test. Source material that helps you study for the written portions of the test can be found quite readily online and at your local DSA testing centers. These resources contain a ton of information that will help you prepare for the types of questions that you will find on the test. Not only are there plenty of study guides and practice test available for the first written portion of the motorbike theory test, but there are plenty of online and offline resources available for the hazard recognition portion of the test as well.

Successful Completion Of The Motorbike Theory Test

Upon successful completion of the test you will receive a certificate that states you are able to ride legally. This certificate typically is valid for a period of two years. In order to take the actual motorbike license test you have to have this certificate. Unfortunately if you let your certificate expire after two years, you’ll have to successfully complete the motorbike theory test again in order to get your actual license.
